COACH LINDY EDWARDS

Hi, I’m Lindy Edwards, co-director and one of the coaches at Sakura Volleyball. Volleyball has been a lifelong passion of mine, both as a player and now as a coach. I’ve spent years playing and coaching at the club level, and each season reminds me why I love this sport so much. There’s nothing more rewarding than helping young athletes grow in skill, confidence, and teamwork.

Sports have always been a major part of my life. They’ve taught me discipline, resilience, and the value of hard work which are lessons I strive to pass on to my players. As a coach, I lead with positivity, high energy, and a commitment to development. I believe in pushing athletes to reach their potential while supporting them every step of the way.

My vision for Sakura Volleyball is to build more than just strong teams. Here, at Sakura, we are building a community. I want this club to be a place where athletes feel inspired, supported, and challenged, all while having fun and creating lifelong memories. I’m excited for what the future holds and grateful to be part of a program that’s offering opportunity for both boys and girls volleyball.

COACH PHI LE

Hi, I’m Phi-Long Le, co-director and one of the coaches at Sakura Volleyball. My journey in volleyball has been shaped by a genuine love for the game and a passion for helping others grow.  I’ve spent years playing recreationally and coaching, and I bring a unique perspective to the court. My experiences as both a coach and a mentor have taught me that success in sports is about more than just skills, it's about connection, communication, and confidence.

In addition to coaching, I’m a business owner and work in the field of therapy for children. This background has shaped my coaching style, it has taught me to lead with empathy, patience, and a deep understanding of how to connect with and support young athletes. My goal is to create an environment where every player feels seen, heard, and empowered to grow.

What excites me most about Sakura Volleyball is the opportunity to help build something meaningful. I want this club to be a place where athletes don’t just develop their volleyball skills, but also grow in confidence, character, and teamwork. I’m proud to be part of a leadership team that values both excellence and heart.

MEET YOUR BOYS CLUB DIRECTORS

COACH MONICA RAMON

Hi, I’m Monica Ramon, and I’m excited to be joining Sakura Volleyball as the Director of the Boys Program. Over the past several years, I’ve had the privilege of building and leading boys volleyball programs, and through that experience I’ve learned that my favorite part of coaching has never been the wins and losses. It’s watching athletes grow into confident, resilient young adults and helping them discover strengths they didn’t know they had.

Sports have always been about more than competition to me. They’ve taught me accountability, perseverance, teamwork, and how to keep showing up even when things get hard. Those are the same lessons I hope to pass on to every athlete I coach. I believe in creating an environment where players are challenged to push beyond their comfort zones, supported through the ups and downs, and reminded that their value extends far beyond what happens on the scoreboard.

My vision for Sakura Volleyball is simple: build something people want to be part of. I want our athletes to feel seen, supported, and excited to walk into the gym each day. I want families to know they’re joining a community that genuinely cares about their kids. Most importantly, I want to continue creating opportunities for boys volleyball to grow and for every athlete to leave this program with lasting friendships, unforgettable memories, and a love for the game that stays with them long after their playing days are over.

COACH MANNY SILVA

Hi, I’m Manny Silva, and I’m excited to be joining Sakura Volleyball as the Director of Boys Performance. One of the things I love most about coaching is helping athletes realize what they’re truly capable of. Whether it’s improving their skills, building confidence, or developing the mindset to overcome challenges, being part of that growth is what continues to fuel my passion for this sport.

Sports have taught me the importance of discipline, consistency, and resilience. Success isn’t always about immediate results, it’s about showing up, putting in the work, and trusting the process. Those are the same values I strive to instill in every athlete I work with. I believe in challenging players to push beyond their limits while creating an environment where they feel supported, encouraged, and motivated to become the best version of themselves.

As Director of Boys Performance, my goal is to help our athletes build a strong foundation that extends beyond volleyball. I want them to understand the value of preparation, accountability, and taking pride in their development. At Sakura Volleyball, we’re creating more than competitive teams. Here we’re building a culture where athletes are empowered to grow, families feel connected, and every player has the opportunity to reach their potential.

COACH ABBY LUNA

My coaching experience started with summer league programs at my former high school, where I discovered my passion for teaching and mentoring young athletes. Since then, I have continued to grow as a coach by leading 11U and 13U club teams, working with athletes through various skills clinics, and serving as a coach for the UTSA Men’s Club B Team in 2024.

What I enjoy most about coaching is the opportunity to share my passion for volleyball with young athletes. I aim to help players develop a genuine love and respect for the game while becoming better athletes on the court and better people off the court. I believe the lessons learned through sports can have a lasting impact, and I strive to create an environment where athletes feel supported, challenged, and motivated to reach their full potential. My goal is for every player to leave the gym not only as a stronger volleyball player, but also as a more confident and well-rounded individual.

COACH DESIRAE ESPINOZA

With more than six years of volleyball experience, I am passionate about helping athletes develop their skills, confidence, and love for the game. My volleyball journey has given me a strong appreciation for teamwork, discipline, and the dedication required to develop in this sport. These are qualities I strive to instill in every player I coach.

I am committed to creating a positive and supportive environment where athletes can grow both on and off the court. Coaching allows me to share my knowledge of the game, build meaningful relationships with players, and help them reach their full potential while developing the character and leadership skills that extend beyond volleyball.

COACH WILL HAMILTON

Coaching with Sakura Volleyball gives me the opportunity to teach, support, and inspire young athletes as they grow both as volleyball players and as individuals. I am passionate about helping players develop strong fundamental skills, build confidence, and learn the value of hard work, teamwork, and perseverance. Creating a positive and encouraging environment where athletes feel motivated to challenge themselves and continue improving is something I take great pride in.

My goal as a coach is to help each player reach their full potential while fostering a genuine love for the game. Whether an athlete is playing for fun, personal growth, or aspiring to compete at higher levels, I strive to provide the guidance, knowledge, and support they need to succeed. I hope to give young athletes a strong foundation and a head start in pursuing their volleyball goals, should they wish to grow further in the sport.

COACH ELINA KIM

Volleyball has been a significant part of my life since middle school, and I continued playing throughout high school and in club. My passion for coaching began, though, when I helped coach my younger sister’s intramural teams, and I quickly discovered how much I enjoyed helping athletes learn and grow.

I love coaching because, as a player, I always wished I had someone closer to my age who was just a few steps ahead of me and willing to share their experiences, lessons learned, and mistakes. Being able to provide that guidance for young athletes is something I am passionate about. I believe there is always something new to learn at any age, and those of us who have been fortunate enough to play the game should do everything we can to help others develop their skills and create opportunities that we may not have had ourselves.
